People often imagine a designer would find it difficult to design their own environment due to the amount of options, variations and materials available to them. In this case, the project design was simple as our brief was clear; we wanted to create our little piece of New York City within inner city Adelaide. To enhance our collaborative approach to design, an open plan framework was a natural solution. The material palette was always intended to be a neutral but not bland backdrop, within which our varied colourful/material filled projects will continue to be created. The studio design was also an opportunity to explore materials not often used, in order to showcase their potential/highlight them as examples to clients. But above all, our studio needed to be a space we can grow with and enjoy coming to everyday.
